Frequently asked
questions.
Everything you need to know about preserving a life story.
How does the process work?
Every Legacy Narratives package begins with a complimentary consultation to learn about the stories you’d like to capture. We’ll plan a guided, professionally filmed interview and a portrait session. Your complete interview is preserved in a private digital Legacy Library, organized into chapters and individual stories for you and the people you choose to share it with.
Who conducts the interviews?
Each interview is guided by a Legacy Narratives team member with care, curiosity, and an appreciation for the stories that make your life unique. Our conversational approach to guided interviews creates a comfortable, unhurried setting where you can share memories naturally, without having to follow a script.
Can two people be interviewed?
Yes. The Our Legacy package includes one guided interview with two people together, focused on their shared story. Woven Legacy includes three guided interviews: one with each of two people individually, plus one with them together. It preserves each person’s life story as well as their shared memories.
Can we include personal photos and videos?
Yes. The optional Legacy Film can include family photographs, home videos, and other personal materials. You don’t need to gather everything beforehand. Together, we’ll choose the photographs and keepsakes that best complement the stories shared during your interview.
How long does it take to complete a package?
The timeline depends on your package, filming schedule, and the scope of your project. We’ll discuss the expected timeline during your consultation.
What format will we receive?
Your package includes your complete interview recording, professionally edited portraits, a private online Legacy Library organized into chapters and individual stories, and a personalized keepsake drive containing your digital archive. You and anyone you grant access can watch the complete interview or revisit individual memories in the library. If you add The Legacy Film, you’ll also receive a separate, professionally edited 2–5 minute film.
Is the content kept confidential?
Your stories are personal, and we treat them with care and discretion. Your Legacy Library is private, with access for you and the people you choose to share it with. We will not use your personal stories in our marketing without your permission.
Can revisions be made?
Yes. If you notice an error in the organization or labeling of your Legacy Library, please let us know so we can review and correct it.
What if someone is hard of hearing or has physical limitations?
We’ll work with you to plan an interview around individual needs. This may include taking additional time, adjusting how we ask questions, or choosing a more accessible filming location. Please tell us about any needs during your consultation so we can plan a comfortable interview.
What if we are not located near your studio?
Legacy Narratives is based in the Birmingham, Alabama area. If you or your loved one lives elsewhere, we’d be happy to discuss the possibility of holding the interview outside our local area. We’ll discuss travel availability and any associated expenses during your consultation.
How do I get started?
Schedule a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation. We’ll learn about the stories you’d like to capture, answer your questions, and help you choose the package that fits your family. There’s no obligation—just an opportunity to explore what would be meaningful to your family.
